Why I created a new blog

Mostly to shut people up about my blog not validating.  🙂

Plus now I can control the look a lot more carefully.  But expect I’ll be tweaking the styling a lot over the next few weeks.

  1. Congratulations 🙂

Personally I think a brigther font color and a hint to the textarea and input fields would make sense. Otherwise fine. Good luck on your new blog.

  2. Yes, more contrast and maybe a tad larger font size would make it easier to read. I’m not as young as I used to be. All that work, reading over specs and all…

Al, and we can make your wish come true…just tap two IE browser windows together and say, over and over, “There is no markup like HTML…there is no markup like HTML”

Eh, amazing what we imagine when get a bang on the noggin.

  3. Congratulations on having an almost validating blog…I setup a WordPress blog on mine a few months ago and frankly it’s very obnoxious to work with. Since I actually serve my site as XHTML 1.1 (application/xhtml+xml) (with fall back of course) I have found relying on third party software to be obnoxious (especially when Safari broke but Firefox did not). Don’t ask me how or why, but I added (PHP syntax) exit(); at the end of the WordPress (client) footer template and this resolved the problem.

Needless to say I could forgive you for not having a validating website (most especially with WordPress that claims it’s code output (heh right) is valid.

@ Al Billings: I’ll use HTML5 when it knows how to introduce itself as HTML5 (the horrible excuse for a versionless doctype declaration).

  4. John, why “almost validating”? I haven’t found any validation errors…

As for the HTML5 thing, I completely agree with you, but I keep getting outvoted in the HTML WG. I’d encourage you to join the WG and add your voice on this topic.

  5. Hmm, wow, that was neat. WordPress was insisting that it didn’t have to close the element, and it refactors raw HTML when I edit it. Grr. Should be validating again now. Thanks for pointing out.

  6. A larger font size would be nice (the first thing I did when I came across this blog is hit Ctrl++). Other than that, looks good. Pages are validating fine for me.

  7. If you removed border=”0″ from the source then this blog would be valid XHTML 1.0 Strict. When you do tinker with the style, could you please do something about the mouse text. I having to lean into the monitor just to read the text. BTW, how many cats do you have or do you just admire cats?
